Aquafish: meeting the local needs for fish foodstocks
In Angola, Aquafish aims to solve the current scarcity of fish resources due to overfishing.
In order to reach this, Aquafish is involved into the construction of larviculture centres, training specialised technical local staff, operation and maintenance to ensure sustainability among other activities.
Its intended impact, therefore is: to develop national aquaculture production to meet populations’ needs, supply domestic market demand for fish, reducing imports.
Concrete results can be summed as follows: Aquaculture tilapia breeding unit is supplying the national market. The current capacity production is 2 million larvae per year, for later fattening phase, up to 15 grams.
