CELA HOSPITAL 

  • Rehabilitation and expansion of a regional public hospital in Kwanza Sul province from 5,000 to 9,000 sqm
  • Population served: more than 250.000 people from Cela and neighbour municipalities
  • Internment capacity expansion from 80 to 200 beds
  • Full equipment provided to infirmaries, maternity, emergency service, operating rooms, labour delivery rooms, laboratory, kitchen, oxygen production centre, other hospital facilities and administrative services
  • 100% increase in number of internments per year since rehabilitation –5448 in the first semester 2017
  • 150% increase in number of patients seen in hospital per year since rehabilitation – 2496 external consultations in the first semester 2017
  • 100% prevention of mother-to-child transmission among HIV positive pregnant women assisted
  • 0% mortality rate associated with TB and HIV in 2017
  • 100% of tuberculosis cases detected submitted to directly observed treatment short course (hospitalised)
  • 85% of patients’ satisfaction with hospital staff and health care means
  • Average 10,00 € saved per person for not traveling outside the province for treatment. Patients evacuated by the hospital in serious conditions taken by ambulance
  • Wide diagnostic capabilities: X-ray and clinical analysis of haematology, serology, pregnancy tests, vidal, BK, bacilloscopy, urinalysis and feces: 18755 exams performed in the first semester 2017
  • Specialty clinics: Surgery, Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Labour Delivery Room, Emergency Bank, Traumatology, Infectious-contagious
  • 4 surgical blocks: 20-25 caesareans and 5-10 general surgeries per month performed in the first half of the year. 39 orthopaedic surgeries performed in the same period
  • 3 labour delivery rooms: 419 births assisted by skilled health personnel in the first semester 2017
  • Ratio of hospital health professionals to population: 1 per 2075 people
